Explore heritage safely — learn from real robot missions.

1Two ways to learn — no learner is ever put at risk

Many archaeological sites are too dangerous or too fragile for students to enter. AEGIS-X gives every learner access in one of two ways, chosen automatically from the robots' live hazard assessment.

📺
If the site is unsafe or fragile

Virtual Heritage Tour

Dog Eyes explores on the learner's behalf and streams the experience to the classroom — nobody enters the hazard. Students still see everything, live.

  • Live HD video from inside the cave
  • Real-time environmental data (O₂, CO₂, temperature)
  • Digital Twin 3D visualization
  • Historical & AI-assisted educational content
🧭
Only after AI confirms it is safe

Safe Visit Mode

When Hawk Eyes has mapped the hazards and conditions pass every safety threshold, selected areas open for a guided visit — with Dog Eyes escorting and monitoring the whole time.

  • Dog Eyes escorts and watches conditions continuously
  • AI raises instant safety alerts
  • Operators can suspend the visit the moment anything changes
  • Balances conservation, safety and access

2The mission you're watching — 6 stages

Every learning session follows a real engineering workflow. Robots always go first; humans only enter after AI-assisted hazard assessment confirms it is safe.

1

Autonomous Exploration

Hawk Eyes maps the site with LiDAR SLAM, builds the Digital Twin, and checks for toxic gases (VOCs).

2

AI Hazard Assessment

The AI Decision Support System classifies hazard levels, unsafe zones and safe routes — humans make the final call.

3

Worker Safety Verification

Dog Eyes enters and continuously measures oxygen, CO₂, killer gases and temperature to protect people.

4

Safe Visit Mode

If thresholds are met, selected areas open for guided educational visits under constant monitoring.

5

Virtual Heritage Tour

If it stays unsafe, learners never enter — Dog Eyes streams live video, data and Digital Twin instead.

6

Emergency Response

If anything goes wrong, Dove Eyes is dispatched with first-aid, oxygen and two-way communication.

3Meet the team — one robot, one job

AEGIS-X is an ecosystem of specialized robots instead of one machine doing everything. This is a core STEM idea: dividing a hard problem into focused, reliable parts.

🦅
Reconnaissance

Hawk Eyes

Explores first. LiDAR mapping, Digital Twin, VOC & toxic-gas detection, Hazard Map.

🐕
Safety & Learning

Dog Eyes

Protects people and teaches. Monitors O₂/CO₂/killer gas and broadcasts the live lesson.

🕊
Emergency Response

Dove Eyes

On standby. Delivers first-aid, oxygen and communication during a rescue.

🧠
AI · Worker Health

Guardian Eyes

AI module that combines the data into a Worker Health Index to guide safe decisions.

4What Dog Eyes senses — the science behind the numbers

The gauges on the dashboard come from real sensors. Here's what each one reads and why it keeps people safe underground.

Oxygen sensorO₂ · safe ≈ 20.9%
Confined caves can run dangerously low on oxygen.
NDIR CO₂ sensorCO₂ · ppm
Carbon dioxide builds up and causes drowsiness & danger.
Killer gas sensortoxic · ppm
Detects poisonous gases before humans are exposed.
BME280temp · humidity · pressure
Ambient conditions and structural context.
MLX90614IR temperature
Non-contact surface temperature reading.
MPU6050motion · tilt
Detects the robot's orientation and vibration.
Pi Camera 3 Widelive HD video
The eyes of the mission — streamed to learners.

5Check your understanding

A quick 4-question check. Pick an answer — you'll see instantly if it's right and why.

6How this helps the world — UN Sustainable Development Goals

AEGIS-X was designed to contribute to the United Nations SDGs. Education sits right at the centre.

SDG 4

Quality Education

Virtual Heritage Tours, real-time learning and STEM education give every student safe access to sites they could never physically enter.

SDG 3

Good Health & Well-being

Worker-health monitoring, hazard prevention and fast emergency response protect the people on site.

SDG 11

Sustainable Cities & Communities

Cultural-heritage preservation, smart tourism and digital conservation for future generations.

SDG 9

Industry & Innovation

AI-powered robotics, Digital Twin technology and intelligent infrastructure.

SDG 13

Climate Action

Remote exploration and digital documentation cut unnecessary travel to fragile sites.

SDG 17

Partnerships

Museums, universities, UNESCO, schools and government agencies working together.

7Inner Development Goals — how we learn to build

Beyond the technology, AEGIS-X practises the values that make good engineers and good teams.

🧠 Systems Thinking 🤝 Collaboration ⚖️ Responsibility 💡 Creativity 💪 Courage 📚 Learning Mindset 🌱 Co-Creation 🤝 Trust

8Safe & fair access for every child

👶

Built around children's right to safe, quality education

In line with UNICEF's principles and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, learning with AEGIS-X never trades a child's safety for a lesson.

  • No child ever enters a hazardous site. Robots go first; humans only follow after AI confirms it is safe.
  • Equal access. Students who are far away, or who cannot travel, join the same live experience remotely.
  • Protection first. Continuous monitoring, instant alerts and an E-STOP mean a visit can be halted at any moment.
  • Learning that inspires. Real heritage, real science, real robots — connecting children to their shared history.
